Christian first became obsessed with typography while studying journalism at the University of Florida, where he graduated with a degree in magazine journalism. But he got his start as a designer while working at a Kinko’s in Minneapolis in the heyday of zine art and grunge type. Mostly self-taught, Christian has worked as a designer of book covers and interiors for more than 15 years, as a senior designer at several major publishers and on his own. Among his clients are Random House, Penguin, Harper Collins, Disney Hyperion, Little Brown, Bloomsbury, and several academic and small presses like Akashic, Soho Press, Oceanview Publishing, Stanford University Press, Ohio State University Press and others. He plays french horn daily — currently still trying to nail Strauss No. 2 — has been studying Swedish for the next visit to his wife’s relatives in Stockholm. He recently moved to Dallas where he’s enjoying the barbecue.
